A most important thing to know about communism is that there is a vast difference between what communist say it is and what it actually is. An official definition, for example was adopted at the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in October 1961 and reads as follows:
“communism is a classless social system with one form of public ownership of the means of production and for social equality of all members of society; under it, the all-round development of people will be accompanied by the growth of the productive forces through continuous progress in science and technology; all sources of public wealth will gush forth abundantly, and the great principle ’From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs’ will be implemented. Communism is a highly organized society of free socially conscious working people in which public self-government will be established, a society in which labor for the good of society will become the prime vital requirement of everyone, in necessity recognized by one and all and the ability of each person will be employed to the greatest benefit of the people.”
This self-serving definition obviously portrays communism in an extremely favorable light; as it will be shown, what true Communism represents:
Communism: (Marxism-Leninism) is the revolutionary, materialistic ideology used by its adherence to justify their efforts to seize power by any and all means for the forcible establishment of a worldwide totalitarian social order.
